NBA Sides Bet - 8/6/2020 - No Seriously, Did You Check Out Bob's Parlay? (EDIT AT 8:59PM EST)

Updated: Aug 7

Game 1: Heat vs Bucks

  • 2.0% wager on Milwaukee Bucks -9.0 @ -114 odds

The Miami Heat have been one of the better and more consist teams since the restart. They crushed the Nuggets by 20 in their first game, barely lost to a very good Toronto team, and then beat a formidable Celtics squad. However, those are 3 very tough opponents, opponents they could not sleep on at all and now they have to deal with a 4th top ranked opponent in the Milwaukee Bucks. Now, the Bucks are coming off of back to back losses, something they rarely, if ever, do. They let up 119 points in a loss to the Brooklyn Nets, something no one really expected. They have only lost 3 games in a row once this season and it was leading into the COVID season pause. We fully expect Giannis and the boys to come out firing this game against a top opponent, to prove their worth. To have two 3-game losing streaks in their last 7 games would be catastrophic.

Game 2: Clippers vs Mavericks

  • 2.0% wager on Dallas Mavericks +4.0 @ +100 odds

The Clippers are one of the best teams in the NBA and our model has them at 3rd in the NBA. However, the Dallas Mavericks have size and one of the best scoring track records since the restart, putting up 149 points, 115 points, and 114 points; if they can play some defense, they would be in good shape. They also have one of the best players/shooters in the league in Luca Doncic, who has shown his ice cold veins against top competition plenty of times. Our model gave the Mavericks incredible value that we just had to take with them getting plus points.

Game 3: Lakers vs Rockets

  • 2.0% wager on LA Lakers -1.0 @ -117 odds (EDIT 8:59PM EST, WE BACKED OUT OF THIS BET ONCE WE LEARNED LEBRON JAMES WAS OUT)

Two teams that just have not been playing up to their potential as of late. The Rockets barely beat the Mavericks in a shootout in overtime, they did have a quality win against the Bucks; however, we just mentioned how the Bucks have been struggling. Last game, they lost by 8 points to the Trail Blazers. The Lakers have not been much better. They got smoked by the Raptors, had a nice win against the Jazz and then proceeded to get smoked by the Thunder. In 2 of the last 3 games, they have put up 92 points and 86 points; awful, in today's NBA. So, with the Lakers matching up against another top ranked team who is struggling, we expect them to get their offense back on track, especially since they are only getting -1 from the betting markets.
