Game 1: NY Rangers vs Carolina
Bet 1: 1.50 % wager on NY Rangers to win, including overtime @ +120 odds
Bet 2: 2.50 % wager on game total goals over 5.5 @ -107 odds
Bet 3: 0.75 % wager on parlay of NY Rangers +1.5 on the puck line & total goals over 5.5 @ +215 odds
Carolina Hurricanes were all over the Rangers for most of game one. We originally thought Shesterkin was going to start, but once the game started, Lundqvist was between the pipes. He put up a noble effort robbing the Canes on multiple plays. The Rangers got within one on a shorthanded goal by Staal, but they could not get the puck out of their end to pull the goalie and have a legit shot at tieing the game up. The Rangers battled and we believe they can take that ending momentum in game 1 and build off of it in game 2 to steal one from Carolina. We still have the Canes winning this series, but we are banking on Panarin and the boys picking things up in game 2. Also, if Shesterkin can get the start we would feel that much more confident about the Rangers, but we still believe in Henrik to get a W. As for the over, our analysis and model gave us a 61% chance of the over, so the -107 odds gave us great value that we had to take.
Game 2: Winnipeg vs Calgary
Bet 1: 1.50 % wager on Winnipeg Jets to win, including overtime @ +128 odds
Game 1 was a tough one for the Winnipeg Jets, they lost their leader and arguably their best player early on in the 1st period; Scheifele is doubtful for game 2. All we can say is the coach said the hit was dirty and filthy, Tkachuk just better keep his head up out there. We still think the Jets have enough talent and size to overcome the Flames. They were up 1-0 before giving up 2 PP goals, a SH goal, and an EN goal; the Flames had 0 even strength goals. Winnipeg was thrown off their game early on, but should comeback focused and once again, they have the better netminder, Hellebuyck is far better than Rittich. So, we love the plus odds we are getting on a team ready to take it to the Flames.
Game 3: Montreal vs Pittsburgh
Bet 1: 1.50 % wager on Pittsburgh Penguins to win in regulation @ -105 odds (BET CANCELLED)
Bet 1: ADDED AT 5:10PM, 8/3/2020 - 3.0% wager on the game total goals over 5.5 @ +105 odds
The Penguins are not dropping two in a row to Montreal. That first goal by Montreal was so flukey and probably rattled the Pens a little bit. Also Sheary missed a penalty shot to seal the deal in regulation, guy did not even hit the net. Crosby will have the boys ready to go and they will be backed by Tristan Jarry in game 2. Jarry has been on fire this season and outplayed Murray. Therefore, we feel even more confident about the Pens in this game.
EDIT - We decided to pull the orignal bet and swap it with the over 5.5 total goals in the game bet because we orignally thought Tristan Jarry would be the starter for the Penguins. Now, Matt Murray is the starter and that changed our projected odds and value for certain bets.
